Data Scientist

Data Scientist – Python, Spark, AWS, RedShift, Snowflake, Neural Networks   To join a global online rewards and market research company located in Berkshire but will be a remote role most of the time.

They use the latest machine learning and statistical methods to offer their users the best and fastest experience possible.

As a Data Scientist you will be joining an existing team to help with the dramatic increase in demand for their products and have prior experience in working with machine learning algorithms. You will work with their existing models and infrastructure and find areas to improve both. Taking a leading role to make data driven decisions on improving new user experience and retention rates, new user acquisition strategies and new gamification features. You will fully understand the models you build, the data you will and how to build the models for their purpose. You will work with their existing stack, cloud infrastructure and data warehouse/lake technologies and as the roe progresses begin to mentor and coach more of the junior Data scientists that they have in the business.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Data Science team to evaluate weaknesses in the existing models and business
  • Understand existing infrastructure and keep up with the development team on changes at a macro-level.
  • Evaluate new user experience metrics, and retention metrics and produce solutions
  • Work with the development team to deliver the models and features,
  • Analyse the existing model maintenance and make changes to make the ML process run better
  • Work with User Experience team on new gamification features.
  • Develop machine learning models using Spark/Python and using Postgres/AWS Redshift to perform data queries.

 

Requirements:

  • Experience in Data Science with programming involved.
  • Expert in Python, and preferably Apache Spark
  • Very good team working experience.
  • Knowledge of different learning algorithms
  • Statistical learning algorithms – K-means, SVM, random forests, HMM
  • Write queries in SQL and optimize query for speed/efficiency.
  • Experience using cloud platforms/stream processing: AWS, EC2, S3, Spark, Kafka.
  • A strong Masters/Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Natural Sciences or Mathematics.
  • Passionate about data statistics, machine learning and data science is essential
